2021 Triumph Speed Triple RR teased – launch Sept 14

After a short teaser piece last month, a teaser video for the 2021 Triumph Speed Triple RR has been released, with an official launch date of September 14. What differentiates the Speed Triple RR from the Speed Triple naked sports is a half-fairing in the style of sports bikes of the 70s and 80s.

While not quite being a true retro bike, the Speed Triple RR does sport a round LED headlight, giving it the clubman racer look. Motorcycle aficionados will have seen this design style recently, in the form of the MV Agusta SuperVeloce.

Some might ask why the new model doesn’t carry the Daytona name, last seen on the middleweight sports Triumph 675 Daytona. It could be for many reasons, which might include a particular design theme Triumph is carrying going forward as opposed to the pure, single-focus super sports machines like the Yamaha YZF-R6 and Honda CBR600RR.

Thematically, the Speed Triple RR does follow the the signals sent by the recently launched Triumph Trident 660. In this case, we can expect to see perhaps a small range of modern three-cylinders wearing bodywork throwing back to racing days of yore.

Needless to say, the new Speed Triple RR is very much focused in going fast n two-wheels, with clip-on handlebars set much lower than the upright bars of the Speed Triple RS. We can expect to see the 1,160 cc triple engine providing a possible 180 hp, six-speed gearbox, fully-adjustable suspension, probably from Ohlins, Brembo Stylema brakes, TFT-LCD screen an electronic riding aids.
