2021 Nissan Rogue: New Updates & Family-Friendly Pricing
When the 2021 Nissan Rogue pulls into dealer lots later this month, you will see the entry-level S with a base price of $25,650. Nissan is ballyhooing the budget-conscious MSRP of this all-new model because the automaker positioned it as a family-friendly option in the highly profitable mid-size crossover segment that includes the popular Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
“Rogue is the first of six new vehicles that will be in Nissan showrooms by the end of 2021,” said Mike Colleran, Senior Vice President, Nissan U.S. Marketing and Sales. “As Nissan looks toward the future with dramatic new models like the upcoming Ariya electric crossover and the just-announced Z Proto, we’re updating our model lineup with fresh, exciting, and innovative vehicles that will thrill our customers.”
2021 Nissan Rogue: Trim Levels & Features
The new Rogue has four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. All-wheel drive is available for each trim level, and all boast standard family-favorite extras, including:
- Cloth seating (leather is available).
- Extra cubicles throughout the cabin.
- Five-anchor latch system for child safety seats.
- An Intelligent Key that now works on rear doors.
- Plentiful safety features such as Nissan’s Intelligent Driver Alertness to aid sleepy drivers, automatic rear braking, and emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
The 2021 Nissan Rogue is standard with the automaker’s Safety Shield 360 technology and optional with ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link. Wireless charging and Apple CarPlay are also available. Other options abound, including Tri-Zone Climate Control, so you can make the back of the vehicle warmer for infants or let older kids set their own temperatures.
2021 Nissan Rogue: Engine & Powertrain
As we mentioned in an earlier article, the 2021 Rogue is smaller but more engaging to drive than its older siblings. That’s thanks to new updates to the engine, driveline, and suspension. Here are some highlights:
- Standard 2.5-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with Nissan’s Direct Injection Gasoline system. Horsepower is rated at 181, an increase of 11. Torque is increased by six lb-ft. to 181 lb-ft.
- Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system uses a new electro-hydraulic controlled clutch that predicts front-wheel slippage to more accurately and quickly control torque distribution.
- Five drive modes are available with Rogue All-Wheel Drive models: Off-road, Snow, Standard, Eco, and Sport.
Chassis & Vehicle Control Systems
The chassis control module monitors and adjusts engine, transmission, Vehicle Dynamic Control, all-wheel drive, and steering functions. For front-wheel drive modes, a switch on the console controls three drive modes: Sport, Standard, and Eco. The new suspension design features a rigid mount (six mounting points) and a multi-link rear setup. Power steering calibrations for the 2021 Nissan Rogue include a quicker gear ratio that helps minimize steering corrections for the driver.
The Vehicle Motion Control system is always on but especially useful when driving off-road or in snowy conditions. “This is technology that does what a human can’t,” said Chris Reed, Senior Vice President, Research and Development, Nissan Technical Center North America. “The all-new Vehicle Motion Control predicts what the driver is trying to do by monitoring steering, acceleration, and braking. It can then step in and help to smooth things out.”

So, as we said earlier, pricing is family-friendly, though top-end 2021 Rogue models veer into BMW crossover territory. Here’s the MSRP for each model sold in the United States. Don’t forget to tack on another $1,095 for destination and handling.
