Honda Vezel/HR-V gets new Modulo X variant in Japan

Honda Japan has launched a new Modulo X variant for the Vezel, which is better known to us as the HR-V. Available in Touring and Hybrid trims, with the latter offered with front- or all-wheel drive, the new offering is priced from 3,528,800 yen (RM134,465) to 3,617,900 yen (RM137,860).

The Touring trim features a 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine with 172 PS at 5,500 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm, which is mated to a CVT driving the front wheels. Meanwhile, the Hybrid uses Sport Hybrid i-DCD system that consists of an Atkinson-cycle 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine (132 PS and 156 Nm), electric motor (22 PS and 160 Nm) and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox).

On the exterior, the Modulo X versions sport a dedicated front grille, aero bumpers, bumper garnishes, LED fog lamps, dual exhausts and Modulo X badging. Depending on the chosen drivetrain, front-wheel drive cars get 18-inch aluminium wheels, while smaller, 17-inch units are fitted to those with all-wheel drive. The Modulo X Vezel cars also get a different springs and dampers for the suspension.

Moving inside the black-themed cabin, the seats are upholstered Ultrasuede, with the side bolsters done up in leather. There are also sports seats with a heating function fitted to the front, with Modulo X-badged floor mats also part of the package. Another standard feature is the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance systems.

Customers there will get to choose from four exterior colours, including Premium Crystal Blue Metallic, Premium Crystal Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl. The first two options come at a 60,500 yen premium (RM2,306), while Platinum White Pearl is an additional 38,500 yen (RM1,467).
