Hyundai Veloster Grappler Concept revealed for SEMA

When you think of a rugged off-road machine, a pick-up truck normally comes to mind. However, Hyundai has other ideas, and for this year’s SEMA Show, it will unveil this, the Veloster Grappler Concept.

As you can see, the Grappler means business, as it comes with custom front and rear brush guards, skid plates, a Seibon carbon-fibre vented bonnet, a significantly increased ride height and Method Racing wheels shod with oversized all-terrain tyres.

The concept also sports a roof-mounted Thule utility basket for extra cargo capabilities, and holds a removable Goal Zero solar panel, a Baja Design high-output lighting system and other utility lights. While the mechanicals remain unchanged, Hyundai fitted a Borla catback exhaust system to increase the car’s “visceral audible resonance.”

While there are no shots of the interior, the Grappler features an integrated roll bar and mounting points for a full-size spare wheel and tyre. The car also comes equipped with traction mats, a utility shovel, a Goal Zero portable power station, roadside assistance kit, first aid kit, Napier outdoor dome tent, Scosche Mounts, Goal Zero crush lights and Recaro seats.

Other items include a custom switch panel to control the car’s lighting systems and a range of Hyundai accessories – sport pedals, sport shifter, all-weather mats, ambient footwell lighting and cargo blocks.
